Bar Drake, The Granddaddy Of Union Square Bars
Slip back in time to the Prohibition era, where underground speakeasies hummed with the excitement of illicit behavior. Bar Drake, the stylish Union Square bar lounge located in the lobby of the famous Sir Francis Drake Hotel , is that kind of place. A throwback, an old-school gin joint serving up 1920s-inspired cocktails amidst a sleek décor.
A dramatic antique-mirrored back bar is the focal point of this San Francisco bar, arching up to the lofty ceiling. An impressive display of scotch and American whiskies lines the backlit shelves, with some bottles dating back to the 1930’s. Master mixologist Jacques Bezuindenhout has created a cocktail list for the Bar Drake that complements its glamorous feel, showcasing many of the bar's fine whiskies. He has also updated some bar menu classics such as the Sazerac, Rob Roy, and Manhattan. A particular favorite among regulars is our Margarita, an all-natural blend of Partida Tequila, Agave Nectar, and Lime Juice. It wouldn’t be a shot in the dark to say Eliot Ness himself would’ve loved this tantalizing concoction.
